Whidbey Island Gem Gallery

dsc_0531

This gem of a store (pun intended) is filled with hundreds of sparkly crystals, precious stones and minerals, stunning gems and jewelry, and interesting fossils. Those interested in gemology, as well as those who just like to look at shiny things, will be amazed at the large variety of rocks available in this shop.

Gemologist Kim Borgatta and custom jeweler Stephen Adair Keim, owners of Whidbey Island Gem Gallery, travel the world to bring precious stones to Whidbey Island. Some of the stones were passed down from Kim’s parents, Maria and Ed Borgatta. The Borgattas owned a shop in Vermont and donated an 892 carat golden topaz to the Smithsonian Museum.

Spend some time learning about the healing power of crystals or check out the gems and beautifully crafted jewelry.

Jack and Suzanne Healy have been selling functional art online for more than fifteen years. The Langley store is their first “brick and mortar” and the first time they have dabbled in the home decoration department. They offer a variety of products from artisans all over the world, including a selection from local artists such as Cook on Clay. All of the chandeliers, pendants, and lamps are hand-blown by glassblowers, such as Suzanne Healy herself. dsc_0489

Customers can use the in-store computer to ship their purchases directly to their home. Each product comes with a story that is as unique as the artisan who created it. If you are in the market for new furniture, home decor, or lighting, then this is definitely the place to go!

Chocolate Flower Farm

You may smell this store before you see it; just follow the sweet chocolate wafts to the Chocolate Flower Farm. Marie Lincoln, farmer and Chocolate Flower Farm owner, thinks of the shop as her farm stand. She produces all the products herself at her Langley farm, which include chocolate candles, raspberry chocolate jam, fudge, bath and body products, and chocolate mint tea. She also grows dark-colored plants that are available for purchase as seed packets and plant starts.

The eleven-year-old farm has been featured in prominent publications throughout the years, from USA Today to Martha Stewart Living to Sunset Magazine.

If you have a weakness for chocolate or a love for gardening (or both), you’ll definitely want to pay a visit to the Chocolate Flower Farm.

Owner Lorrie Craig sews all the dog harnesses and assembles the baby gifts herself. Her business began when her five chihuahuas needed fitted clothes that were easy to put on and helped Craig ensure her dogs were safe. Similarly, her baby products were inspired by her ten grandchildren.
